What is the difference between Sapphire and Palmetto Buffalo?
The only real difference between these two varieties is that Sapphire has a slightly finer leaf than the Palmetto which means it is softer underfoot.
What is the size of a slab of turf?
600mm x 1200mm (0.72m2) and normally weight 5 -10kg depending on moisture levels and variety.
How thick are the turf slabs?
Palmetto, Sapphire and Empire are roughly 50mm
Wintergreen couch is roughly 30mm
These measurements are including soil and turf.
How soon can I mow my new lawn?
Once the turf has ‘taken’ (Grown new roots into the soil), usually at around 4 weeks, your new lawn is ready to mow.
How much soil should you spread on the site?
For very poor quality soil (clay, sand) use approximately 75 to 100mm of good quality top soil.
For poor quality soil use approximately 50 to 75mm of good quality top soil.
Why is Buffalo better than couch?
Buffalo tolerates shade a lot better than couch does; buffalo has a wider leaf than couch and with grass, wider the leaf, the more shade tolerant it is.
Do I need to remove existing lawn before new installation?
Yes you do. It is best to remove any weeds, grasses or old lawn at least two weeks before with round-up. It may require more work and repeat applications of round-up. Once it has all died off remove weeds, grasses or old lawn.
