Being Turf Farmers, we are always keen to help the grassroots of the community. It wasn’t too long ago that the team at Go Turf headed up to the Glass House Bowls Club to donate a 320 Wanderer, Car-Top Tinnie to the club’s annual fishing competition.
Who is the Glass House Bowls Club?
Glass House Bowls Club began as a bowls and social
club in the late 1950s and has since grown to be a popular dining and
restaurant facility for the local community. For the past 17 years, the club
has held an annual fishing competition to raise funds for local charities.
Since 2011, the club has been supporting the local paediatric services through
the Sunshine Coast University Hospital charity Wishlist.
This year, the Glass House Bowls Club is hosting their
18th annual fishing competition from August 9th – 11th,
in the hopes to raise even more funds than previous years. For seven years, the
club has raised over $27,000 bringing together the generosity of local
businesses towards the noble Wishlist cause.
Go Turf’s Charity Donation
While we aren’t bowlers or from all account’s great
fishers, it’s important to us to give back to our local community with three
generations of Heilig’s being patrons of the Glass House Bowls club. This year,
we decided to purchase a 320 Wandered, Car-Top Tinnie from Brisbane Yamaha and
donated it to the club, who will be auctioning it off as the raffle prize for
this year’s competition. The lucky winner of the raffle will also receive five
cartons of beer (brand of the winner’s choice) to accompany their future
Go Turf’s Club Donation
If you have been to the club recently, you may have
noticed the freshly laid turf on the playing grounds as well. Following the
cheque handover to Wishlist earlier this year, we surprised them with a full
resurface of the playing areas to ensure the ongoing safety of the bowlers.
The Glass House Bowls Club is a very humble group of
people, encouraging the local community and businesses to support one another.
The Heilig family are very appreciative of all the work they do, so resurfacing
the turf was the least we could do alongside our recent boat donation.
