How to install turf properly
Proper installation improves rooting speed, surface finish and long-term durability. This video walks you through each step.
Installation details that matter
How quickly must turf be installed after delivery?
Turf should be installed as soon as possible after delivery, ideally within 24 hours. Turf is harvested fresh to order, and delays increase the risk of heat stress, drying and pallet burn. Prompt installation protects establishment and long-term performance.
What site access is required for delivery?
Delivery vehicles require clear, stable access for unloading pallets. Turf is delivered palletised, so ensure:
- Clear driveway access
- No overhead obstructions
- Firm ground for pallet placement
- A designated drop location confirmed prior to arrival
If access is restricted, advise the team during scheduling to prevent delivery delays.
Can delivery times be guaranteed to a specific hour?
Delivery runs are scheduled by zone and route efficiency. While specific delivery days are confirmed, exact hourly time slots cannot always be guaranteed due to traffic, weather and multi-site scheduling.
For time-sensitive installs, discuss staging or early-run allocation when booking.
What preparation must be completed before delivery day?
Before delivery:
- Old turf and debris must be removed
- Final soil levelling must be complete
- Irrigation (if applicable) installed and pressure tested
- Underlay or sand base compacted and level
Delivery is not the time for final preparation. The site must be ready to lay immediately upon arrival.
